About the Event

This is our second year at WILDFERN GROVE for the 9th Annual Sex Positive World Convergence (affectionately known by many as SEX CAMP) just 45 minutes from the Tacoma airport and a 2 1/2 hour drive from Portland, Oregon for inspiring workshops, sexy parties, hot tubbing and more.

The ticket count for this event will show as higher than the actual number of participants.  This event is for a maximum of 80 people.  We will post here when we are getting close to full.

Come celebrate the diversity of ways we express our authentic, sex positive selves while gathering together in community, living aligned with nature, and committing to each other's and the planet’s well-being.

The main purposes of this event are community building, exploring and defining sex-positivity, sharing our visions and talents, and enjoying the fruits of our labor.

ACTIVITIES are offered by all the wonderful people coming to the event.  Every year's schedule is a work in progress built by the people who register.  Events include:

  • Morning Naked Yoga (or wear what you like)
  • Guided events (ice-breakers, sensation play, mutual masturbation)
  • SPW's core classes - Awesome Boundaries, The Pleasure Talk, Sexy Intersections
  • Member-led classes and workshops on all sorts of topics including . . .
  • Ecosex exploration (nature as our lover)
  • Lots of community-building exercises
  • Massages and snuggles
  • Talent show performances
  • Themed parties in the evenings

Bring your talents, ideas, and enthusiasm to help make this an amazing long weekend in the woods. What will happen here is what we co-create. This is our 2023 schedule to give you an idea of what to expect.  We'll post our 2024 schedule as it comes together.  Changes, edits and updates will continue to be made up to and during the weekend. Have something you'd like to present or help organize?  Let us know as you register.  There will also be a sign up sheet for helping out when you check in. We all take on tasks to support the community by supporting leaders, cooking and keeping everything humming along.

WHEN:

EARLY BIRDS: People coming from out of town, everyone helping with set up and anyone wanting a longer stay are welcome to register to arrive on Thursday, July 25. Lunch and dinner will be served on Thursday. There will be an informal evening gathering on Thursday to begin to get connected with everyone before the main event.

MAIN EVENT: Organized activities start at noon on Friday, July 26 to allow people to arrive in the morning.

DON'T  MISS  A THING!: The last event will be held in the early afternoon on Sunday, July 28.  It is best to plan a night flight out if you are flying to have plenty of time to be a part of all the sexy and community connections.

COST:

Just like years past, financial support is on a sliding scale so everyone can attend.  We are asking for a $75, $120 or $180 per person contribution to attend plus the cost of your meals.  Please pay what you can afford so that others can afford to attend in ways that match their socio-economic circumstances. If you have more funds to share than the ticket prices offered, use the general donation option to make your contribution in addition to the ticket you have selected.

We ask that, even if you are choosing the free access option that you still pay $10 per meal you will be eating ($90 if you are coming Thursday - Sunday, $60 if you are coming Friday - Sunday, $30 if you can't arrive until Saturday or are staying for just one overnight earlier in the event). Meals will be served so that people who are vegetarian or omnivores, as well as anyone avoiding carbs or dairy will all have good options.  You may bring your own food to prepare with your own gear (no kitchen access). We highly recommend participating in the shared meals.  Shared meals are a good connecting time; and there is often not a lot of time to prepare and clean up after your own meals.

To encourage more carpooling (good for the planet and better for parking), we are charging $15 in advance per vehicle brought on property or $20 on arrival if not pre-registered. It’s great if you can help pick people up from the airport and/or share rides from Portland and Seattle.  A carpool sign up sheet will be sent to everyone who registers.

All funds collected beyond event expenses will help fund Sex-Postive World and allow Sex-Positive World to financially support world chapters.

Scholarship: To help every one of our chapters be represented at Convergence and have sex-positive people from around the world in attendance, scholarship support can be requested for the costs of travel and attending.  Please let us know what will help you be able to attend. We'd really like to have you with us at Convergence.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

CAMPING: Camping areas for tents, car camping, vehicles with small trailers is first come, first served and at no additional cost.  Note: no power is provided. Maneuvering large RV's is difficult on the property, so they will need to be parked below the main area with a longer uphill walk.

GLAMPING: The five rentable yurts on property have been assigned in a lottery.  We experimented with this process at an early event this year and found it to work well to give access to the yurts to a wide variety of people and have them paid for in ways that worked well for each person's circumstances.  The initial raffle was held from all forms in by midnight, Sunday, June 9th.  You can still fill out the form to be considered for space that becomes available in any of our stewarded yurts.

SLUMBER PARTY: The main gym building, main yurt and main outdoor tented area will be used for activities during the day/evening and will be a crash space after evening programs are completed for folks who are hearty sleepers who do not often need to crash early.  We will need you to tuck your things out of the way during the day, if you choose this option, and recommend that you bring your own padding/bedding although some padding will be available, first come, first served.

NEARBY ACCOMMODATIONS: This is a popular weekend in the area for hotel reservations.  Our search of the area shows all hotels full at this time.  Let us know if you find a place with availabilty.  We'd love to share the information with others looking for hotel accomodations too.

COMMUNITY SPACE: The main dome house on property has a private full bathroom for all to use, including a large shower, with privacy and running water. There are also 2 outdoor showers for those comfortable with public nudity, and several outhouses in the camping area. If you have additional needs please let us know as you register so we can accommodate you.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Your own bedding, unless  you are using the main bed in a yurt
  • Towels for showering and hot tub, sunscreen, sun hat
  • Water bottles and thermal cups
  • Light source (phone or flashlight)
  • Fun and sexy costumes
  • Your own extra snack foods and libations (bring a cooler)
  • Optional: Anything you need to offer something for the talent show

CHORES:

Everyone will help prep and clean up after meals, set up and takedown, AV support, chopping wood and carrying water. This is a community offering - we're in this bed together!!! Be prepared to sign up for several volunteer shifts when you arrive.

COVID SAFETY:

We welcome vaccinated and unvaccinated participants at this event. We support personal choice and clear, informed consent.  Come prepared to share how you have limited your exposure for the week before this event and having pre-thought your own desired boundaries with others. We will not be requiring all participants to test in advance of arrival.  We ask that all participants limit exposures the week before the event that could lead to passing on any viruses. We ask that you rapid test before arriving if: you have any symptoms potentially related to colds/flus/allergy/COVID or you have been in contact with people presenting symptoms.  Full refunds can be given if you choose or are asked not to attend because of health issues.  Please be willing to COVID test during the event, to limit contact with others and be willing to leave early if you begin to have symptoms that could be contagious to others.  Thank you for helping to support the health of our whole community in these ways!

WHO TO BRING:

Your sexy sex-positive friends and beloveds over 21.  This event will be attended by people from many sex-positive world chapter members and their guests, plus people who have been involved in sex-positive world events but who do not belong to a chapter.

Q&A:

Can I come for just a day?

No, that's too much coming and going for us to feel like a cohesive group. Plus you'll miss out on too much and the rest of us will be sad. Two days (staying overnight on property or nearby at least one night) is the shortest participation possible.

How acessible is this event for anyone who is mobility impaired?

The workshop spaces including the gym, main yurt, and community room are accessible via ramp. The main camping area, yurts, and most workshop zones are on one level on property over grass, dirt and gravel. Each yurt has one or two stairs to get inside.

Can I bring a newbie?

Yes, but only someone you know well. You will be responsible for their behavior. You can't leave them at the event if you leave early.  If you are a relative newbie yourself, we recommend that you don't invite someone even newer than you.

Will the level system apply?

Yes, Sex-Positive World levels events (Level 1: social, Level 2: sensual, Level 3: sexy, Level 4: sexual) and we have a standard of education and experience we like people to have to be interacting together in Level 2, 3, 4 workshops and play areas.    Opportunities will be offered to take the workshops needed to level up at Convergence, just for this event.  You will still need to follow leveling up steps in your own chapter/community.  The special leveling up for the event does not take the place of chapter leveling processes.

What about drugs and alcohol?

Discreetly do what pleases you that is safe and comfortable for you and others.  Everyone needs to maintain enough sobriety to give and receive informed consent.  Do not smoke in any common areas or pathways so that others can be free of needing to breathe or try to avoid smoke where everyone is gathering.

Can I bring my own food?

Yes, there is a meal plan available, yummy food for $10 per meal, but you are also welcome to take care of your own food needs in your own camping area. There are limited places for cold food storage. It is best to bring a cooler and ice for your own food storage.

Will I have to volunteer?

YES! We are a do-ocracy, a volunteer member organization of servant leaders who enjoy doing for others as much or more than we like receiving. We are generous, caring, sharing, and talented as fuck! We have volunteer schedule slots you can choose from, and even if you are a fancy shmancy group organizer, workshop leader, or DJ, you still have to do a shift, cooking, washing dishes, or taking out the garbage. Egalitarianism is one of our hallmarks.

Do I have to wear clothes?

Only some of the time.  We'll orient you to where clothing is required and clothing is optional.  A sunbathing area in the main meadow and in the hot tub are both ongoing clothing optional places.
