STIs are an important part of a safer sex conversation. We will discuss how to approach this sexual health concern with a nonmonogamous and queer approach.

The class will cover the following:

• A review of HSV, HPV, HIV, and syphilis
• Understanding the roles of risk tolerance and taking a harm reduction approach
• Understanding the role of social networks.
• Discussing the risks specific to non-monogamy, kink play and queer sexuality.
• Asking for what you need from your healthcare provider
• Practicing STI disclosure by role playing with each other.

This class will be interactive and based on advice from the USPSTF and the US CDC. It will also be recorded and a recording will be sent to you after the event.

I am a Board-Certified Integrative and Holistic Family Physician who specializes in sexual health and consent. My unique approach to wellness incorporates pleasure as an important aspect for healing trauma and illness. In addition to practicing medicine, I was the Executive Director of SexPositive Portland from 2018-2020. I teach other health care providers on sex-positivity, destigmatizing STIs, and having a more open attitude toward alternative sexual practices and relationship styles.
