Welcome to SexPositive World’s Blog Site
I am Gabriella Cordova, the founder and Director of SexPositive World, the non-profit umbrella organization with chapters in seven countries and sixteen cities. I would like to welcome you to our world and show you around.
Our world is populated by everyday people from almost every walk of life, and we welcome every gender, orientation, kink, proclivity, age, size, and relationship style. Many of our members are sexuality-educators, therapists, healthcare providers, activists, and sex-workers, but most are ordinary explorers on an extraordinary journey of self-exploration, expansion, and community building.
As predicted by Maslov’s Hierarchy of Needs, we find it to be true that only those whose safety and comfort needs have been substantially met seek us out, and we don’t seem to particularly appeal to the most elite of society; instead we fall in the middle. However, all are invited, and no one is turned away for lack of funds.
We have a Board of Directors and an Advisory Board, and some of the chapters have their own boards. The vast majority of those in leadership positions are volunteers, including myself. The only paid positions are those of my assistant and a few of the larger chapters’ organizers. We are most definitely a volunteer organization as we expect all our members to pitch in from time to time, either hosting, teaching, or taking turns in leadership.
We have fun together: that is a cardinal rule! We have local events, plus several big annual events that draw people from all corners. We believe that expanding our friendship circle, sharing values and the workload, and having communal experiences is the antidote to the isolation and body numbing experience of virtual world. But you will also find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, just in case you can’t make it out or there is not a chapter near you.
